SSIS 2009 - Edit

These are images from the Saskatoon Sports Car Club National Solo II event for 2009. It was held on September 4, 5, and 6 in the Credit Union Centre parking lot.

I am still in the process of editing and uploading to this gallery so if you can't find the picture you are looking for, either check again in a few days or send me a quick email with the image number (from the other gallery) you want.

These are the final edited versions of the photos shown in the other SSIS 2009 galleries. All images were taken in 16bit RAW format with a 12MP DSLR camera.

These are the best of all of the photos I took during the three day event. They are in no particular order. Some of the shots are a bit blurry because I was using a slow shutter speed (1/60th of a second) to try and give a good indication of speed.

SSIS 2009 - Sunday

These are images from the Saskatoon Sports Car Club National Solo II event for 2009. It was held on September 4, 5, and 6 in the Credit Union Centre parking lot.

These are small un-edited (no colour correction, brightness or contrast improvement, or cropping) versions of Sundays session. For finished edited versions of the best of these shots go to the SSIS 2009 - Edit gallery.

All images were taken in 16bit RAW format with a 12MP DSLR camera so even if the images look under or over exposed they can be brought back to the correct exposure (in most cases). I will be uploading corrected versions of these files and deleting the very poor ones when I have time to edit them. There are more than 1000 images so it might take a while. =)

If you are interested in getting a full sized print of a specific photo, please contact me with the image number and I will upload a full sized, fully edited version for you or let you know that the image is too poor for print quality. These images are 1024x683 @ 72dpi (screen resolution, not print resolution) and you can download them to get a better idea of what they look like.

Some of the shots are a bit blurry because I was using a slow shutter speed to try and give a good indication of speed. To compensate I took a lot of photos to try and increase the chance of getting a good shot.

I didn't get to shoot as many pictures as I would have liked to today because I didn't always have a spotter and wasn't allowed on the course without one. The rules for photographers were much more strict this year.

These are small Un-edited (no colour correction, brightness or contrast improvement, or cropping) versions of Fridays "Test & Tune" session. For finished edited versions of the best of these shots got to the SSIS 2009 - Edit gallery.

Unfortunately I was not paying attention to the camera settings at the beginning (distracted by the cars) and took most of the shots at a very high ISO setting so they are a bit grainy. I learned my lesson for the next day. =)

These images are called fractal flames. They are digitally rendered on my computer using a program called Apophysis. They don't look like traditional fractal images.

A collection of photos taken by my father, Oscar Van Dongen, from when he first bought a camera until the mid 1970's.
These images were all scanned from slides, some of which are degrading badly. I have done some minor retouching on all of the images to try and restore them to their original colour and contrast.
